autonumber?

Hi guys i have gone through help document and  previous discussions in this link  still i am unable to understand functionality of

AUTONUMBER()

AUTONUMBERHASH128()

AUTONUMBERHASH256()

HOW it works in what kind of scenario we use autonumber and hash128,hash256?

if possible share some qvw with simple script

Please help me out

Hi manojqlik,

there are I believe a number of threads here in the Community on this topic.

Basically, all three can be used to anonymize any kind of numbers.

The 128 and 256 versions are still more refined, but the "normal" one should do to protect your data.

They all work just by assigning random numbers whereby every unique number you have in your data gets another unique number assigned and if you have the same number twice, then both are assigned the same random number - so you can still display relations and trends afterwards, but you cannot reconstruct the true numbers.
