I have just installed QlikView 12 desktop version to try it out on a company laptop.
Our company has a QlikView 11 server where I usually connect to get the license, I tried to connecto but it fails with tunnelling error message. I tried in another laptop where I have a QlikView desktop 11 installed and it works perfectly.
It's not a good idea to mix up different releases of desktop client and server and especially not by a major release. Better is to have a testserver environment which is also upgraded to QV 12.
