incremental load

Hi Experts,

In the incremental load first we can load data from the database then we can create the QVD again we have to load all new data by using filter conditions and create the QVD. here the QVD which i was created by earlier is overwrite by this new QVD,Now there is no old QVD

so i want that old QVD how can i get it?

Thanks in Advance

If you don't have a backup, you cannot "get it". But if the database content used for the original qvd is unchanged, then you could easily recreate it by using the same filter conditions. Then make a back up.

Their is no alternate to recover your old QVD if you have overirde with new data.

You have to go to database and create same qvd again without condition

Hi Prabhavs,

As it is not possible to recover your old qvd using Qlik.

Only suggestion is to use any data recovery software so that you can get your old QVD as well.

Hope this helps you out.

Hi,

Its not possible to retrieve the old qvd..but as the new QVD created contains the old QVD data, we can make a copy of new QVD and delete the last reload data based on some date field. This only works if there are inserts. This fails if there are any Updates and Delets in the latest run.

Hi,

If the place you work has decent data backup practices, you should be able to retrieve the QVD from the backup.

Right click on the folder that contained the QVD and go to properties option and follow the image below.

Hope this helps...

Hi,

have to say sorry u can't retrieve your old data file. You have to re run the without conditions to get that. For incremental reload save your second qvd file (when query with filters) with a different name.

Hi Prabhas,

Sorry you've lost your old qvd but if it has been overwritten QV cannot recover it. After all, if you overwrite an xls file you wouldn't expect Excel to be able to retrieve the old one one would you?
