quick help needed on set analysis

I was wondering if any one can help me understand one of the statement in set analysis

Fieldname=$::Fieldname

what is $:: designate or mean here in the expression which has been created in the set analysis?

This is usually used in addition to {1<

{1<Fieldname = $::Fieldname>} means that ignore all possible selection except selection in Fieldname field
