qvw works fine even after data source not present in the location mentioned inside qvw

Hi All,

I have a question, I am new to QlikView so may be I am missing some tricks here, may be someone can help me

- On Production server I have a qvd kept at D:\Qlik Data\test.qvd

- On test server I have a work file abc.qvw which is using test.qvd(simple select from qvd). Location of qvd is same i.e D:\Qlik Data\test.qvd

- But test.qvd is not present at above location on test server.

- When I open abc.qvw it works fine. All objects are working as it should and everything is OK.

Question:- How is it possible that abc.qvw works fine(on test server) even if test.qvd is not present in the location(on test server) mentioned in qvw ??

Note: The location where abc.qvw (on test server) is C:\Qlik\Document\abc.qvw there is one more file with same name but a 'SHARED' file.

Is the above  scenario working fine due to SHARED file? If yes then how is it possible? What exactly is the use of SHARED file?

Hi Kumar Mehta,

I presume its due to the fact that  'relative'  path option being ticked.

Check your script editor.
