Hi,
New to Qlikview, using it through partner with Moody's. Working through the tutorial on version 11.20 and can't replicate the sort order change described on p. 70. Followed the steps, and my countries are still sorted in alpha. Checked the TutorialFinal.qvw file to compare the settings to my own and the only difference I see is ascending v descending for the Sales Numeric Value sort order. Even though TutorialFinal.qvw is set to ascending, the sales totals are displayed in descending as well. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Steve
Looks like a bug to me, see below someone else also faced similar issue but resolved by changing the chart type and then reverting to same chart
Hi,
Please share the sample qvw which you created so that we will check the issue.
Hi Steve,
Can you share the sample qvw?
Not sure though but the TutorialFinal.qvw I could find has sales figure sorted in descending as mentioned on page 70.
Below are attachment for your ref, please share more info to help further. Thanks
Make sure you have not selected more than "Y-Value" to sort by.
Please upload your tutorial file that has the issue, the one you upload is working as expected.
Hi Shaun,
I attached my working file. From your comment, I think you mean sort should only show 1 column, but I'm not sure how to remove country and it is found in the final. Also, if you look at the final (and I downloaded the copy above to confirm it is the same), the sort shows ascending, but the values are descending.
This is what I have in mine, but as you can see it isn't sorted at all, it appears in alpha by country (which is the first priority, but it is in final as well). I've tired a few things: cleared selects after setting it, promoted Sales priority in front of Country, unchecked sort by text on both columns.
I appreciate all the feedback and look forward to hearing more.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Digvijay,
It looks like you have an option that doesn't appear in my version. I don't have a Y-value option at all. Maybe I missed something that enables that? This explains why I found the text confusing. When I didn't see a sort by Y-value option on the screen, I assumed that they meant Sales since it is the Y axis.
Thanks,
Steve
It gets stranger: I continued through lesson 5 and went back to the table and now it is sorted correctly. I didn't change the parameters. I wonder if something in lesson 5 related to the pivot table creation is actually the reason the sort order changed? Still strange that I don't see the Y-axis option at all. Here's another shot of it working showing that the properties are the same:

I agree. We did find another way to fix this in my co-worker's copy: she added an expression sort on country by sum(sales) and it accomplished the same thing. At least with that approach, you can see why it is working as expected.
Thanks for your help!
