Activating a GoogleMaps Layer

So Google has added a new layer of capabilities to their Maps,, including layers for Bike Routes, Transit, Photos, and Traffic.

I have this Map/Scatterplot object in my current application, where the background image brings up a GoogleMap, with scatterplots shown on top of the map. The zoom changes according to the selections and the lat/long coordinates associated with those selections. Standard stuff.

However, I was wondering if there was a way to alter the background link so that we can activate the new layers, or more specifically the one for the Transit lines.

Note that these transit lines only show up in select cities, one of them being NYC.
