Custom Layer in Extensions

Is it possible to do custom layers for extension objects? I have an extension but I am unable to set the layer to say 5 or any number higher than 1.

I have multiple layers in my app and the extension is at the very top.

Including layout.qvpp does not help as that Custom-> Layer option is unavailable.

You can try placing the extension in a container object and making the view as Grid with 1 column and 1 row and accordingly adjust the container layout.
