I am working on a virtual environment (parallels) on a mac and did struggle a lot activating the CTRL + SHIFT option to resize and move object within a chart (the red boxes). Creating alternative combinations did not do the job form me. after clicking CTRL _SHIFT in a chart I did see the boxes but when I clicked on the mouse to move or resize I did get the properties box. I just discovered that also selecting on the CMD key the properties menu does not appear and the objects can be moved and resized as desired
