Direct Discovery

Hello Qlik Developers

I have wrote the script for direct discovery and loaded the data. what i have observed is the direct discovery query pulled all the dimension data into qlikview and i dint see any measure fields in my application. I created a chart and added the measure name and the qlikview is prompting the measure name. according to my understanding the qlikview will pull dimensions into app and measures from the database ie when ever we write any measure for calculation the direct discovery query will go to the database and get the values. Is it correct? please let me know as direct discovery is new to me
