How to use an Internet Explorer extension

I have the following case:

An extension that uses video. Mp4 works in Chromium or Firefox, but does not work in Internet Explorer (Ver 9).

Extenstions will open only in the full browser version and not the IE plugin when you open in internet explorer. Please confirm.
