Qlikview less data more ram

Hi was going through this blog below

http://qlikviewnotes.blogspot.in/2008/05/when-less-data-means-more-ram.html

In the blog it is explained how data is unwrapped in qvd and gets stored as string.

In my project my QVW file is 5gb.In my qlikview file i am first i load my Fact qvd and then run some if conditions to flag my data in fact table for calculating rolling weeks and then store them in a another table and finally drop my original fact table. Does this any way increase the size of qlikview file and causes it to behave in a way where it consumes more RAM? Are charts more processor intensive as compared to Tables?
