How forward selection in set analysis works? Can anyone explain it

In the folllowing chart there are 2 expressions;

the second expression is forward selection;

from help: $_1 represents one step forward, i.e. equivalent to pressing the Forward button

no selections

forward button disabled

select B

forward button disabled

press back button

forward button enabled (don't press)

in second expression (forward selection) you see the effect of pressing the forward button, before you press it
