Time Chart Query


Can anyone advise what does the parameter below in the Time Chart Wizard means in layman term please:

1) Base Expression
2) Timestamp Expression
3) Basedate Expression

I have read thru the manual, but just cant make sense of these parameters when I tried building a Time Chart Wizard..
