URL Parameter 'host' purpose?

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering what the purpose of the url parameter 'host' and what it's associated value of 'local' does?

For example, http://<servername>/QvAJAXZfc/opendoc.htm?document=<qvw_document_path>.qvw&host=Local
