Understanding Windows NT Directory Service

As quoted in Qlik help for Windows NT DSP :

"The Windows NT directory service provider can connect to any Windows NT Directory available through the underlying Windows operating system."

I didnt get it how Windows NT DSP works and what is its purpose.

Please ask your local friendly domain administrator what NT DSP and AD are and how they work.
