blank screen in Report

I’m having intermittent blank screens on my report. it sometimes displays the report correctly. when it fails this is what happens. On the first try it displays an empty screen with the background being gray. The on subsequent tries it displays a white empty screen, and it hangs while downloading. I’ve occasionally gotten a popup displaying some error about pdf (don’t remember the details).
