Is it possible to change the background color as well as the text of the list box to some other color?

Yes, change the background color on the Presentation tab and set the Selection Style Override option to anything but Qlikview Classic and User Default. Change the font color on the Font tab.

I don't want the check box icon also to appear. The font color option is disabled on the font tab

If you don't want check boxes then choose another style. Once you've changed the style you will get the option to change the font color.

Yes, it possible through QlikView extension. You need to install extension.
