Hi Petr

Qlik Sense Desktop is the single point of contact. You download it for free, install it on your machine. The machine needs to have direct connection with the various datasources, and you need to create the script, to connect to the database, load the data and transform it.

You'll also be responsible for creating the dashboards and using (consuming) the application.

Qlik Sense enterprise is the enterprise ready client-server version of Qlik Sense. All the applications will be centrally located on the server (company's intranet of cloud), which is responsible for security, governance, calculations etc. Your authenticated business users will have access to the server through a web browser, and depending on their authorisation levels, they'll be allowed to see and use certain applications.

Simplistic approach, but I hope you're getting the idea. 🙂

Thanks for reply Agis. 🙂

So Qlik Sense Server = Qlik Sense Enterprise, is it true?

In a way yes.

Of course, Qlik Sense enterprise refers to the deployment and the extra functionality, Qlik Sense Server refers to the server. 🙂

Not applicable

Hi Agis,

Thanks for explaining the difference. Very helpful. So is my understanding correct that Qlik Sense Enterprise is like a SAAS solution vs Desktop is local?

Also, does the Enterprise version come with other advantages like unlimited sharing on Qlik Cloud? Or more storage on the Qlik Cloud, etc.?

If there's an official link where I could get this info, please feel free to forward that as well.

Thank you!

Hi Marcus,

You create the application on the portal.

Every user has a work stream, that is only be accessed by the user own.

Altough there is an option to develop with Desktop version and import to server.

New to Qlik Sense Enterprise Server Videos

Today I called the reseller  to understand about Qlik Sense.

The Qlik Sense Enterprise already have the Server and we can customize it by portal like QMC.

The Qlik Sense desktop is like the QlikView Desktop, Qlikview uses licences and Qlik Sense uses tokens.

Hi Rospigliosi,

If you are create an application in Desktop version, the qvf file will reside in c:\users\...\Documents\Qlik\Sense\App directory. With server version you can import these application through Qlik Management Console (QMC). This can be on of the many workflows, but develop in server is more comfortable.
