Toggle And/Or selections

Hi,

I have a discussion with a client about the possibilities of changing the "and" / "or" default selections in QlikView.

As we all know, when I select something in a list box I get all the associated data with my selection - that is everything associated with either one or the other of my selections in that listbox (so its an "OR" selection). When I select in two different list boxes I get the associations that applies to both my selections (so its an "AND" selection).  Is it possible to change this selection mechanism?

So (taking the movies demo as example) when I select more than one actor I get ONLY the movies that ALL of them have worked on, and not the movies that anyone of them could have worked on. Or when I select a director and a movie he has not directed I will get the actors that have worked on either this director or the movie that is directed by someone else.

This is a wish by a client, who has several fields with data that is not associated but would like to see the results of different unassociated selections.

This sounds like the 'And-Mode' - search for that phrase in the Help File.

It's a little tempremental from my experience but if the conditions are right can be really useful.

Hope that helps,

The mode for the field is set in the list box dialog (Object menu >> Properties >> General >> And mode).

A value in a list box in "And" mode will be marked with an ampersand "&" when selected.

Thank you I have found that mode within the list box, though it is greyed out and comes with several criteria that must be met in the table. But that can be worked with. Thank you. But the other selection between list boxes and making that into an "OR" would that even be possible?
