Hi Deepak,

Qlikview is a reporting tool that kept data inside RAM. where as the database where table of your business resides.

If you want to know about the qvd's and database table.. then the difference is that QVD files are only accessible by qlikview where as database table can be used by n no of tools and analytics..

Actually there is no comparison between a database and qlikview..

Please let us know if you have any other doubts.

database are data storage (where we store company data)

while qlikview is a business Intelligence (where we do data analysis reports)

Hi Deepak,

This is based on my understanding, on my own words:

Qlikview is a tool/business intelligence software that will help you analyze your organization's data/or any relevant information that needs instant analyses. Basically, it is use for data representation, analytics, and reporting.

Database is also a tool/data container software that stored all your information. It's a virtual file cabinet. This is one of the data sources that Qlikview can connect to.

Qlikview needs data sources in order to perform, one of them are the relational databases or RDBMS.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Bill

Hi deepak,

If you are referring to when creating a data model in QlikView vs relational databases there are a lot of differences. These are some of them:

Tables automatically gets a relation when a field name in both of them are matching. In QlikView tables relate with only one key field. Which means you sometimes need to concatenate keys in QlikView. In QlikView tables cannot relate in a circle, like Facts to Employees to Offices to Customers and then back to Facts.

I try to think of it like this: In a relational database the relations are relevant when you actually make a SQL query. But in QlikView any selection triggers filtering on the complete QlikView data model, which means all relations are relevant all the time. This means the data model needs to be designed a bit different from the database some times.
