Hi,
One of our users here is having an issue leasing a User CAL on our development server and was hoping someone here may be able to suggest a fix.
We have a production machine and a development machine. Up until yesterday the user had been leasing a User CAL from the production machine, but suddenly this stopped working and Qlikview Desktop started opening as Personal Edition.
We have tried a number of fixes.
- Opening a document from the production machine using 'Open in Server', using the production server qvp URL, and also the url qvp://[username]@[production server name]
- Setting the 'Default License Lease Server (URL)' setting
- Restarting the Qlikview Server service on the production machine
- Clear License Information in Qlikview Desktop User Settings
- I've also checked that 'Allow License Lease' is still set on both servers
I've checked various posts on the forums here and haven't found any other suggestions that may help.

Did you logged as"Administrator" in Client machine..
Licence lease need administrator rights..
Karthik
Hi,
Make sure that user has assigned the User CAL license.
Also it will help in understanding the problem if you post the error which you get when you tried Open in Server.

Hi Kaushik, and Karthik and thanks for your replies.
The user has administrative rights. Also she has a User CAL assigned to her. As mentioned she was working just fine until yesterday.
When using 'Open in Server', there is no error. The document selected opens just fine, Qlikview simply fails to lease a license.

Hi,
this is white paper regarding lease license..
I am not sure.. Its might be helpful to you..
Karthik
Hi Karthik,
again thanks for the reply. However I've already read this and tried both methods of leasing a license, neither of which worked.
As a workaround, I've got the user to use another users' CAL, by using open in server, and specifying the URL 'qvp:/[username]@[servername]', however I'd like to be able to user her own license.

Hi,
I am not sure whether this will work or not, but just try below things.
1. Take the backup of the .pgo and .shared files.
2. Delete them.
3. Retstart the server.
1.Remove the user license
2. Reassign it.

Marcus,
As I remember, we can't lease with same user name on 2 diffrent client system. So you might be used her
user informations on some other system.
So wait for 24 hours for server to re allocate Named/User CAL users.
Meanwhile you can use other user to lease license..

as Karthikeyan stated if you have leased with 2 other computers with the same username, you will not success to lease with a third one. this is a limitation in the product.
can you confirm if you can lease with different user profile?
