Hello,
I am running QlikView Server 11.2 as a Virtual Server in a VMWare environment.
The server team has set the server for 8 GB of RAM and to allocate additional memory as required. It appears that the virtual machine does not request this additional memory.
Is there any Official Documentation from QlikView about setting dedicated memory on a Virtual Machine instead of dynamic memory.
Thank You,
Michael
Hi Michael,
There is a white paper - search for "QlikView server virtualization" should find the PDF document.
Hello Michael,
I suggest to have dedicate memory instead dynamic, this is due to QVS memory working sets limits.
Also here is QV and VMware support statement ( in case you didn't see it before):

Hi, just as a comment I would not recommend using dynamic memory allocation on a QlikView server at all as I doubt that the allocation will be done fast enough. I would check your logfiles as you probably will be hiting at least working set low and probably high as well (as mentioned above). Of course this will depend on several things, the size of documents being uploaded into memory, the typ of calculations in the document and of course the number of simultaneous users but 8Gb sounds way to low.
Again, check your logfiles and se what is happening on your server.
Hi Michael,
Indeed what the others are saying is right. Make sure you are not using memory ballooning or similar techniques, QVS needs a set dedicated amount of RAM on the machine.
