Just go through Qlikview Reference manual or Qlikview Help file (F1) you will have all the qlikview functions.

If you mean the QlikView server side with "backend process", you best read the Server Manual. It will also describe the Publisher. For ETL information, you could look at the Referance Manual attached by Ishfaque, or Expressor. There are also papers on the QlikView architecture with samples.
