Hi All
I have a document that links to Oracle through ODBC on our QV10 64bit Server. I have ODAC installed and configured and working well.
If I open my document in desktop edition on the server the document reloads perfectly, however when I go into QMC and click the reload now button it fails, in the log I get this error:
Error: SQL##f - SqlState: 08004, ErrorCode: 12154, ErrorMsg: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I have tried to use OLEDB but have had problems when I try to make SQL calls to oracle to alter variables in a package, it doesn't set the variables properly.
Any advice very welcome, Many thanks
Dominic
Reinstalled Qlikview 9 Rel 6. Reload from server is now working well.
Answer = Qlikview 10 Bug.
It appears that the user account reloading via QMC don't have access to the same DSN for Oracle as you do. Try creating a system DSN which the user account can connect via.

The ODBC is set up as a System DSN. I can log in as the service user and it reloads in desktop ok?
Strange. Have had many problems with setting up Oracle connections in my day but I have never had this type of problem once it works when running as the same user.
My advice would be to contact support and try to find what differs between getting a connection running qvb.exe from when you are running the qv.exe.
Starting to think it's a QV10 bug........ There seem to be quite a few........ Thanks.

Was a case ever submitted for this? Do you have a confirmed BugID for this? Is there a new status for version 10?
We had the same issue. On guidance of a QV consultant, installed Oracle 10g (the full database tool, enterprise edition) onto the server, setup an empty database, connected QV to that database (which worked without a hitch), then setup TNS paths to the actual databases to be queried- end result is that QV connects beautifully now using an Oracle Provider for OLE driver. Presumably an install of 11g would also have whatever the magic piece is (driver? configuration file?), your mileage may vary.

DK
PS- I have 17 pages of screenshots that were provided, if anyone wants to give it a go.
I just wanted to share that I have QV9SR3, on the server. Installed the Oracle 10.2 client. QV reloads fine, but from the scheduler, or Management Console it did not. However after a reboot of the server, as suggested elsewhere, this did the trick. So no need to install an oracle database, or a bug. Just a reboot after installing the Oracle 10 client. Then the ODBC/OLE Oracle connection on non interactive QV reload will work.
