Concatenated employee name list not separated by department in a table

I have a table which shows the name of employees and headcount by department which respects the time dimension, 

I was showing department in the field so that I can see the employee name by department, but one day, I noticed that the department filter is no longer working, although I can specifically enter the department name in the search field to filter the table with the name of only selected department.  Without it, the table shows the long concatenated list of employee names for all the department and for all the time periods.  Please could you let me know what could have caused the department field not to work anymore in the table?

This issue has been solved by setting Total visibility to None.
