Counting across date dimension

Hello!

I'm trying to generate a table or bar graph that shows the backlog (Total Bookings - Total Shipments) based on the Ship Date.

This is how my table is structured:

ProjectDate Project CreatedDate Actual Ship
GT-0037311/24/095/14/10
GT-0037411/24/096/02/10
GT-0037511/24/096/08/10
GT-001283/25/092/13/12
GT-007287/03/118/04/12
GT-001293/25/093/14/13

 

This is approximately how I want the visual to look:

5/14/104
6/02/103
6/08/102
2/13/122
8/04/121
3/14/130

 

Any suggestions?

Better If you could explain logic behind to get numbers?
