Data connection from desktop to server

in QlikView when developer creates app data connection is transferred to server and reconfigured for reload to work.

How do you do the same in QlikSense. Do personal laptop data connection needs to be altered on server side when it is moved. Do you RDP in sense server to do it or is it all from console.

If you're lucky it's neither. You import the app using the QMC of QS Enterprise. The data connections will be created by QS Enterprise if they don't already exist. You may then have to change those data connections that point to places that don't exist on the server. For example a folder connection to C:\Users\JohnDoe\Documents\MyExcelFiles\2018\ProjectZ probably doesn't exist on the server, but only on JohnDoe's laptop. Ditto for ODBC connections that were defined locally on the developers system. You'll have to recreate such ODBC connections on the QS server too. Or modify the apps to use another connection that does exist on the QS server.

Understood. Follow up question. Data connection name.

If user one creates data connection name  "Finance monthly budget load" and then developer uploads it to server. what happens if that same rule already exist "Finance monthly budget load" on server for another target file. Would it over write that rule or in this case would it pick up wrong target file.

Only connections that don't already exist will be imported. If a connection already exists then it's not imported. Connections are never overwritten.
