Direct Query - refresh value WITHOUT any selections

Hi,

Is it possible in Qlik Sense to have a screen value refreshed out of a database (without reloading)?

I have set up Direct Query for this purpose and I works fine, but I have to make a selection (any selection) to force the screen refresh. If the screen can somehow refresh every 10s or so then this solution will be fine.

If the auto refresh cannot work with standard UI and Direct Query would it then be possible to build or find an extension that:

1. force a refresh while using Direct Query; or
2. bypasses the Qlik engine completely and go directly to the database;

Any ideas will be appreciated.
