I'm trying to create an Org Chart, but without any relationships. So, just a box per role.
Feels like it should be kind of straightforward, all it is, is a dynamic number of text boxes, based on a field.
The closest I can get though is a trellis chart, but that ends up proving a total nightmare because you don't get any control over the 'title' of Trellis charts, so where I have job titles that are very long, it breaks the formatting, and there's nothing you can do about it. You can't turn off the titles either (to put the values in text boxes or something). It ends up being a bit of a mess.
I thought about using the actual Org Chart, but that has it's own set of problems, it's very much expecting to be drawing the relationships for the hierarchy, and it isn't ideal at laying things out. (And also, again, the text formatting in the boxes is pretty dire and we don't have control over it).
I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, can anyone suggest anything?
I think those are pretty much your only real options in native QS. If you're using Cloud or a newer version of Enterprise, you could do something messy with a layout container and visibility conditions, but I wouldn't recommend that approach.
If you're into extensions, have a look at VIzlib Cards. It might be adjacent to what you're after.
What you're describing isn't really a chart. It's just a bunch of boxes with no particular order, reason, or rhyme near as I can tell. Why not just use a table?
Well, they've got an order and a rhyme and reason, but that's not really relevant to whether it's possible.
It's a replication of a powerpoint slide, which shows the different members of different directorates, with details of their employment status.
I'll have a go with a table though. Trellis is getting me about 70% of the way there, maybe a table can get me to 80.

Haha, yeah, I 'very' briefly had a go with a layout container and actually said out loud "No".
Ah, amazing thanks I'll take a look at Cards.
I know Vizlib is like the go-to, and I've found 'garden', but are there any other good resources for extensions? It seems a shame there's no 'extension marketplace' type thing that you'd typically get with this sort of thing.
Either way, many thanks!
If memory served there used to be a formal place where you could see extensions and see if they were certified or not, but I can't seem to find it so perhaps it has gone the way of the dodo (or I'm wrong, either way).
One place you can explore to a certain extent is the Extensions section of the Gallery page.
Do keep in mind that any extensions you find that are not certified may or may not work with given Qlik Sense versions / Cloud updates now or in the future. Of course, certified ones may also cease to function if the party in question stops maintaining / selling them, but hopefully Qlik is vetting the certification in a way that makes this less likely.
