How can i see what the expression returns?

For example I want to see what this expression returns: ='GetFieldSelections(State)'

Whats the best way to do this?

Create a KPI object with the expression =GetFieldSelection(State) and play around with the formatting. KPI object will be able to show you what this expression returns
