I want to add a permanent selection to the app I am building and I read that I could do this by adding an action to the sheets.
I basically do not want to show any data from before 2016 and I was wondering if adding actions to my sheets would be the best way? or are there better ways to do this? I am aware that I could just add a filter to my sheet, but I do not want to end user to be able to remove the selection.
If this is the best way, could someone help me with the syntax I would need to use in order to achieve this?
that depends if you are using QlikView or QlikSense however, if you will never use a subset of your data in your dashboard then you should not load it al all (filter it out) - this saves you memory space, and if huge it saves you processing time, render time, etc.
I am completely new to it and I am just trying to figure out different solutions to scenarios that I currently come across in other dashboarding tools.
I am basically working on the scenario now where I want to create one dashboard/sheet that has a permanent filter/selection on it e.g. no data from before 2016 etc.
in QLik Sense there is an option to have always 1 selected.
however, if your requirement is to have one specific value of a field always selected - and im guessing as your description is not very detailed. maybe you dont have to load other data that isnt relevant to that specific selection
