Line chart that shows only available data points

Hello, 

I'm trying to help some users replicate what they have been building in Excel that shows trends over time. 

My issue is that if the date of the data entry is spaced far between, the data points are very spread out and Excel gives it in a more concise format so I'm looking for ideas. 

Another issue that in Excel the date axis will show up several time if the value in the chart is different, as where I can't seem to get QLIK to do the same because it wants to aggregate them.
