Master Calendar and Fiscal Calendar

I wanted some insight about understanding the relationship between the Master calendar and the Fiscal calendar.

My question is: is the Fiscal Calendar Script a type of Master Calendar? or an add on to the Master Calendar?

MEANING: do I need both or just one. My "StartingFYmonth" is 10 (Oct)

You don't need both. You can create a master calendar that links dates in your application to a calendar table using dimensions based on a fiscal year.
