"Service user validation failed" when upgrading Sense 3.2

Hi,

When I tried to upgrade Sense 3.2 server SR1 to SR4 (have tried to upgrade to SR2 and SR3 too and had the same error), I was having the following error. The installation cannot continue.

This is a test Sense server in my own virtue machine. I have upgraded it many times and never had this problem. I am very sure that the password is correct.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Fei

My account is in local admin group. The account here is not changeable. My account is the account that runs QS services. It was working well when I upgraded Sense 2 and also from Sense 2 to Sense 3.1 and 3.2 SR1.

So this account is used for running the qlik services - previous versions didn't have to do this (ran as local system).  Have you tried creating a new account specifically for this.  Are you sure that the domain that you have covered in red is correct?  The only times I have seen this error is when the password was wrong or I entered the wrong user credentials (even when we had the wrong permissions set for the user it still went to the next step if we entered the correct user details)

Thank you for your reply Barry. The domain name is correct as I log onto my own PC every day using the account under our domain. And the account part is in grey. I can't change it. My current Sense 3.2 SR1 is working well.

Are you installing it on your pc? or a virtual server (do you log on with those credential) .  Is your 3.2 SR1 using those credentials or local system to run the services

The VM is on my PC. I am using my account to run the Sense services, not local system. Local system runs the repository database only.

Cheers.

So you are upgrading aren't you?  did you stop all the qlik services before starting the upgrade?  If it is a VM on your machine why are you not able to create a new service account?

Yes I have stopped all the QS services before starting the upgrade.

I can create a new service account in my VM but when I upgrade, I am not allowed to change the account. The account part is in grey and therefore is not changeable.

what happens when you go to the 'services' in windows and you try to re-enter the password for that account?
