Qlik Google Sheets Data Connection.

Hello,

     We have a customer in our organization that wishes to connect to a Google Sheet and we don't currently have that working for us. We do see a "Google Drive and Spreadsheets" data connection type but we do not have any service running on our server (I looked under "Services" and I only see Engine, Printing, Proxy, Repository, Scheduler, and Dispatcher services). I saw this documentation that indicates that there is a service that I would expect to be running if this is all set up correctly. I ran the QvWebStorageProviderConnectorPackage.exe and attempted to put in an API key for a single user account that I have access to but the article doesn't specify where we are supposed to get the key to put there.

Q: Do I need to install something or is this already installed? If it is already installed why is the service not shown?

Good afternoon. If you looking to run Web Connectors as a Service to then you need to look at this linkhttps://help.qlik.com/en-US/connectors/Subsystems/Web_Connectors_help/Content/Connectors_QWC/Administer/Run_as_Windows_service.htm

 

Once you follow the instructions here you should be able to see a Web Connector service.

Yes I saw that one. That was how I knew there was a service that should be running but I guess I wasn't sure if an install was required but the steps sure do seem to indicate that is what I need to do 🤔. I'll put this in with a request when we attempt the next upgrade. I suspect it is the solution.

I'm going to attempt to install this on our server very soon to see if it helps. Do you feel that this the starting point  I should be at for enabling this on our platform? There is so much documentation on the Qlik site that seems unrelated that I do not know where to begin from a step by step process to allow our users to connect to Qlik and use the Google Sheets connectors.

It sort looks like this article may be the best place to start.

So I have been able to run the installer and I was attempting to use the deploy.config and logins.xml configuration. I have an account that appears to be logged in when I open https://localhost:5555 but it isn't able to do anything other than read the documentation. I have questions about this documentation (link) though. When I start adding other users to logins.xml, how do I set guids, password hashes, or access tokens for users? It seems that I'm currently stuck here but the service is running now that I followed the info in the link that @Lucas_Gatling provided for me. I do see the Web Connector Service.
