Data Preparation Roadmap?

Is there a roadmap for the product?
Is this product expected to replace Data Quality in Studio?
What features can we expect in future versions? and What is the estimated time frame for releasing those features?
Product shows great potential. I just want an idea of what to expect in the next 6-12 months.

Hi
We are working on making the Roadmap visible to the community via JIRA.
You can see roadmap up for Q1 and Q2 in our recent webinar. The webinar includes a demo of the Q2 version of Data Prep that includes integration with Talend Studio. So rather than seeing DP as a replacement for all of DQ, it solves a portion of the interactive tasks of Data Profiling / Data Cleaning actions. We believe the IT users will also consider using Data Prep for these tasks, but time will tell if they prefer the Web or Eclipse UI style of tooling. It's something we'd like feedback on BTW.  One really important note is that we still automate everything through a DI Job, i.e. Data Prep recipes and rules are fully compatible with Talend DI and can be run inside a DI job just like a tMap.

The focus of the Desktop Edition is:

Single User and desktop based
File Import/export of structured data-sets
Fully functional data prep capabilities
Limited by desktop resource
Standalone

We are adding Big Data features to run DP at scale for big data workloads and more complex data formats in 2016. This is part of our commercial add-on.

Interesting, could you give us more details about how Data Prep recipes and rules can be run inside a DI job?
