[resolved] Handle multiples rows or columns at once

Hi,
Loadind a dataset with multiple blanck columns or lines seems to require  one by one deletion. Painfull !! For data manipulaion of csv files, it's easier to start with excel, then potentially complete with TDP.
Other painfull manipulation: invert first name and last name of some lines...
Thank you
Frederic

Hi Frederic,
Indeed you can apply function on a selection. In fact, this is the default behaviour as soon as you have an active selection in the selection bar.
For Blank value, you just have to click on the white part of the quality bar for the column of interest, then select all the rows with empty value. Then chose the function, and by default it will apply only for the empty values. Same when you select a value through search, by double clicking on the cell, or through the visualization panel.
By the way, I suggest you look at the getting started guide, where we show some of those actions ()

Hi Jfranco
thank you for your reply, but it seems I didn't explain well:
Say I have  40 columns, 17 of them being totally empty (except for the column name). I want to delete them all together and not 1 by 1. So I want to select the 17 columns and execute a single  delete command.
Same for multiples rows. Say I have 1000 rows, but looking at the ones I have on my display (say 30) it happens that I wnat to delete 7 of them just by selecting them (say lines 1,5,7,14,17,22,27) once and applying a delete command.
Thank you

Got you. Good suggestion. By the way, if you are interested, note that the Jira project is public ( https://jira.talendforge.org/browse/TDP). So you can propose new features, vote for those that are already logged (which is the case for the one you mention)...
You also mentioned invert first name and last name. Interesting point. Is your issue related to selecting the rows that are concerned, or rather inverting them once they are selected ?

Hi Jfranco
OK you uderstood my first point.
regarding first/last names, say i have lines 7, 9,15,29 where they should be inverted. I would like to select 8 cells (4 in each column), and apply a "invert" command....
Thank you
