Welcome to the Talend Open Profiler Forums!

Welcome to the forums dedicated to Talend Open Profiler. Please use the "Configuration, usage and feedback" forum for any technical discussion, and the "Non technical discussions" forum for any other topic.
Data profiling is the process of examining the data available in existing data sources (e.g. databases, applications, files?) and collecting statistics and information about this data. Data profiling enables the assessment of the quality level of the data contained in the information system, according to a defined set of metrics and goals.
The open source data profiling tool, Talend Open Profiler, allows business users or data management staff to define a set of indicators for each data element that needs to be analyzed or monitored. It produces sophisticated reports and graphs that let users gauge at a glance the level of quality of the data, and the status of the indicators that were defined.

Hi,
I had previously downloaded earlier versions of TOS and TOP, but now i have problems registering TOP4.1 to my existing talend username. More details see below. Please advise. Thanks.
When I start up my newly downloaded TOP 4.1, it asks me to register. In screen one I fill in my Talend registered email address and the country, and click "Next". The second screen recognises me and prefills my Talend username - so far so good. However, when I then type in my password, two errors ensue:
The first error is "username invalid (bad format)". Strange, since the system has prefilled it automatically, and since it works fine online.
As additional info, my online talend username has a format "first.second.third" i.e. it contains two dots. I suspect the dots may be a problem for the TOP register screen, but if i type a username without dots then the second error message ensues (in bad English): "password is wrong, make sure it correct".
Strange, since my password works fine online (and i have double-checked that there are no typos)
I suspect incompatibility between online and TOP register screen rules regarding usernames? I never have trouble with this username on the online forum, and my password definitely works (i successfully logged in to make this post).
How do I solve this TOP registering problem? Second username, simply never register, ...? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi Nick,
There has been a discussion about the registration wizard. Please have a look at 13129
I don't know if that can help.
Let us know if you still have this issue. And in this case, I would suggest you to raise an issue in our bugtracker http://www.talendforge.org/bugs/bug_report_advanced_page.php and attach the error log http://www.talendforge.org/wiki/doku.php?id=bugtracker#attach_the_error_log_to_the_bugtracker
Thanks.

Hi Sebastiao, Thank you for your post. The forum topic you mentioned talked about proxies but not in enough detail for me to be able to solve this issue. The link you included to bugtracker does not allow me to login under a named account ("access may have been disabled or password was incorrect"). I have not yet posted the bug anonymously. Sounds like my username is conflicting with some access check somewhere - I should have never used dots in my username 🙂 Greetz, Nick.
