This week I’m kicking off the  holiday season with a gift that gives you new ways to create content and design dashboards in Qlik Analytics, our new layout container object.

The layout container, part of the Qlik Analytics dashboard bundle, is a new object that enables free layout of charts, the ability to stack visualizations, combine charts into new visualizations,  as well as multi-select and group objects for easier sizing, positioning and alignment. The layout container is a great addition to the many easy to use and powerful capabilities available in Qlik Analytics

Great new addition to the many possibilities in Qlik Sense!

Just noticed a bug/side-effect in the implementation: using the InObject() function for checking the sheet context inside the Layout Container does not work. If tried on the same page in a master item, the InObject() function works in the master item outside the Layout Container, but not when the master item is inside of it.

Awesome addition, really ❤️ it ! I am a dashboard designer and this is a long awaited feature.
But always remember, simplicity is the key, so use it in a efficient way, and do not overload your sheets.

I also ask this question : do you know when it is available in the enterprise edition ?

I was a bit concerned as there have been some poor & pointless releases in recent years. Like simplified Authoring. And the new straight table is poor.

But this is brilliant. It took me a while to get use to everything but Qlik has done another great job here. It's one of my favourite releases ever. Add in the new text object. And ongoing improved coloring options (goodbye green for the filter pane).

And I haven't found any bugs yet. Unlike the new straight table where it was almost unusable.

Keep it up Qlik.

@robert99 great to hear! Btw, what's not working with the new straight table?

@Ludo_ , @Oleg_Troyansky  the layout container is coming (most likely) to on-prem in feb 2024 release.

@lmoffereins a fix for inobject() in container is on the way.

Thanks,

Patric

Its covered in the comment to this blog post

Straight Table - Qlik Community - 2087333

I only used this table (I much prefer the initial straight table) as a quick way to create a Custom report. But stopped using.

When this feature will be available in Enterprise Qlik?

Also, can you say IN GENERAL when new Cloud features are given also in Enterprise Qlik?
for instance, after 2 versions from the time introduced on Cloud?

Thanks

Hi @EladKushmaro  most likely in the Feb release. In the past they used to be released quarterly in the client-managed releases, but not sure about that for this year.

I love this functionality! How is this new Layout Container performancewise? Is is sensible to make sheetsized layoutcontainers?

And how is rescaling working when switching monitorsize?

Anyone has experimented a lot with this new object?

Not a lot but enough. I haven't used a full sheet yet. Close but not quite a full sheet. The closest was when I was inserting an images (table and charts) using the new Excel PlugIn. I put everything in one container except for the filters. It was easier (loading one container) and looked much better than doing it one by one.

The more I use this new Container Object the more impressed I am with it. An outstanding new addition.
