Upgrading QlikView Desktop silently

Hi,

I am testing the silent upgrade of QlikView Desktop from an older version to a newer one, but it's not working as expected.

When I use the .exe installer with the command
QlikViewDesktop_x64Setup.exe /s /v"/qn"
the installer closes without any error, but the existing installation is not upgraded.

If I use the .msi installer, it shows a prompt stating that an existing version is already installed and must be removed before proceeding.

I would like to know:

  • Is there a way to perform a silent upgrade of QlikView Desktop from an older version to the latest?

  • If not, does the existing installation need to be removed manually before upgrading?

  • If we remove the current version, will it affect any user settings or configurations?

Thank you.

After silent upgrade did you reboot the machine?

"

The following silent installation command line is recommended for QlikView Desktop:

QlikViewDesktop_x64Setup.exe /s /v"/qn"

The command line above installs all features completely silently.

Add a + sign at end of the interface levels command to get a modal dialog at the end of the installation saying “Finished” and if it was successful or not.

After completing a silent installation, perform a system reboot or log out and log back in to ensure the software functions correctly.

Hi Prashant,

Thank you for your help.

Issue here is it's not at all upgrading.

EXE installer closes without any error, but the existing installation is not upgraded.

If I use the .msi installer, it shows a prompt stating that an existing version is already installed and must be removed before proceeding.

Regards,

Sheetal

Hi Sebastian,

The logs show same error message that "already another version exists".

And EXE just exists without error and without upgrade.
