Change tenant alias

hello,

one of my customer is using an old tenant (with pro and ana licences) and will use in the future a new capacity based licence. Will it be possible for him, to change his old allias to reuse it in the brand new tenant in order that users won't have to modify anything ?

This can be done!

  • Open a support ticket and state your situation and have them on standby just in case.
  • Modify the alias of your old tenant to something new. This will free-up the alias previously in use.
  • Login to the new tenant and set the alias there.

The users might have DNS issues for about 1h. After that, it should be OK.

Hi @jchoucq ,

Yes, this something we've done in the past. 

It's not common, but we did 3 times so far. Rebranding and merges caused the tenant alias to change. 

I had the same questions as you do. A lot of preparation, and in the end, it all went smoothly.

But I did open a ticket with Qlik in case something would get stuck, but didn't need their assistance.

On one of the situations, the first time, I had a crew of 12 people testing the alias rename right after it was modified. Different operating system, different browsers. Some of them had DNS issues, but a couple of refreshes did the trick.

If the user is not connected while the transition happens, it didn't cause any issues.

For the users accessing Qlik Cloud during the transition, then we had a few navigation issues, but all solved without any further actions on our side. All solved within 1h.
