Migration to Cloud Project Planning Documents

Hello, I am an implementation engineer with Motio, Inc. We are a Qlik technology and OEM partner, and we focus on DevOps solutions for Qlik Sense and Qlik SaaS. In my role I have a variety of experiences collaborating with customers who are in the middle of on prem to cloud migrations and want to share tips I have gathered over that experience with the community.

Qlik SaaS migration is increasingly crucial to keep up with the added analytics capabilities over on prem installations. We have also seen organizations save on the costs of administration and infrastructure.

In these projects I see that our customers run into a handful of similar difficulties when executing the migration. These include cleanup of their client-managed environment, reducing the overall size of their apps, retaining and deploying private content to the cloud, and keeping the environments in-sync while they do so.

Reach out to me if you are interested in any of these topics. We have created three documents that can help you to plan your migration, covering: Project Brief, Project Initiation, and Stage Plan. We would be happy to share these with you; just send me a message.

Thanks for sharing these templates — very helpful. We’re just about to start our migration to Qlik Cloud Analytics, so a Project Brief + Initiation sheet + Stage Plan are right on time. My suggestion from our side:
• Define clear criteria up-front for which apps get migrated vs archived (reduces noise).
• Add a cleanup phase before migration (remove unused apps, archive old versions) to shrink the footprint.
• Build a governance checkpoint after migration of each stage (to validate ownership, performance, connections).
