Excel export functionalities of Qlikview on Qlik Cloud

We have numerous Qlikview applications published on Qlik Cloud. In many cases our users need to export data out of the straight tables of these Qlikview apps. Unfortunately there are two sorting actions which a user can do within the app, but is never able to export to excel.

  • The rows can only be sorted one time. If a user sorts the rows descending by one column, it is possible to export to excel. But it is not possible to sort a second time within the same column descending and get that sorting to excel.
  • It is not possible to change the order of the columns and get that sorting exported to excel.

Hi @dbi_martin ,

I'm afraid there are known limitations about sorting, when exporting QlikView documents to Excel on Qlik Cloud.

From:
https://help.qlik.com/en-US/cloud-services/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/QlikViewInCloud/using-QV...
"Send to Excel (Sort order and documents with triggers are not supported)."

Please, feel free to add an idea to have this improved.

Cheers!

Hello @dbi_martin ,

Thanks for posting.

As @Daniele_Purrone mentioned such are known limitations.

It might be interesting though, to see if some of those current QlikView apps could be migrated into a Qlik Sense ones and take more advantage of all the great features of our Qlik Cloud platform.

Cheers,

Albert

Hi @Albert_Candelario ,

Which great features do you mean concerning the excel export? Have you ever tried to export a nice formatted table to excel out of a Qlik Sense App. You will only get raw data exported. All formatting is missing:

- colors

- column size

- text wrap

- integer values were cut (no decimal values) in the export - thus the number format is not exported correctly

It is not possible to get the current selection exported within the Excel file. This was standard behaviour in QV.

Yes we migrate all of our QV apps to QlikSense but concerning the export functionalities this will be a giant step backwards. Moreover it will take several years for all applications to be migrated.

Hopefully  Qlik Sense will offer the great excel export features until we are ready with the migration.

Regards

Martin

Thanks @dbi_martin. for your response.

As you might have seen, my comment was about the Qlik Cloud functionalities that work within our native Sense apps and not our legacy qvw files.

I did not specify any in particular, neither the export ones.

If there is any improvement that you are looking forward and it is not yet on our Ideation platform please do not hesitate to log a new Idea or vote for the current ones opened.

As well, do not hesitate to explore the possibilities that our Reporting service might offer to distribute reports as well as the Qlik Applications automations in general.

Cheers,

Albert
