Hi community,
Is there a way in qliksense to create a sort of measure drop down, that has multiple measure values a user can choose from to populate the measure fields in a chart.
For E.g. Avg. Age, % Literacy rate, Total population can be different measures I want to look at across time ( These are say variables in my data set). A single chart should achieve it based on user selection of the measure. (Dimension remains same - e.g. across years)
(This is achieved using parameters in Tableau. Would like to know if a equivalent exists)
Thanks in advance.
Hi Sowmya,
Please find the modified app.
The user need to select the measure from the drop down list. Depending on the selection the measure changes.
Please note I have used Variable extension for this.
I don't know whether you already have it. But anyway am attaching the extension as well.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Uday
Hi Thanks,
Hi-I have a invalid dimension error. Check out the attached screenshot.
I had the same error when I was going through the sample qvfs from the qlik community for dynamic dimensions.
Any idea why this is happening?
Thnx in advance
have u checked above solution?
Yes!
The error screenshot is from the qvf you uploaded.
My bad- I didn't mention where it is from.
I can see the if condition using a cyclic expression variable you have created. I guess what i am not able to see are the selections.
Attaching the screenshot again. Is there something i need to create in the script editor to see the "invalid visualisation"
Sowmya,
I recommend making use of the embedded functionality of Qlik Sense and use the alternative measures feature mentioned above.
It's not ideal to have a user click the exploration menu every time to switch the measure, but the alternative is to complicate your app with a customized function. I've tried this and it's usually resulted in cost to performance, development time, and administration. In my opinion, it hasn't been worth it when the out of the box functionality gets you close to what you need.

install this extension in your work place
Thanks a lot. This helps immensely.
The variable extension seems very powerful.
Any resources to get started on with learning about more such powerful techniques in Sense?
Thanks a lot! Found this useful.
Thanks Michael.
Its been a week since i got started with Qlik.
Any resources on Embedded functionality will be helpful.
I frequent the Qlik Sense Help page here: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/2.2/Content/Home.htm
The search works well and make sure you're in the right version in the upper right corner of the page.
