Default to previous year but enable user to select from a year from dropdown list as well

Hi Qlik Enthusiast,

I have a "Year" Column which has Year from 2015-2019. The requirement is;

Need a filter pane. Till 31st March 2019, the default year should show as 2018. However if the user clicks on the drop down, he/she should see 2015,2016,2017,2018 and 2019. 

Now, from 1st of April 2019, it should show 2019 as default year and others on the drop down. 

Any input of how to achieve this in the most effective way would be very helpful.

Others have responded with fiscal calendars, but I understand your question is about how to make default selections, correct?
