I assume this is for Qlik Sense? You may want to use the new variables interface available in Qlik Sense 2.1.
You could use conditional logic such as this in the color by expression area of the chart.
if(CategoryName = 'Sportwear',red(),blue())
Check out this video that gives an example of setting a variable to be used in multiple chart objects.

I agree with Mike. If you don't care about what color each dimension is assigned - you can color by dimension and choose persistent color option so the colors for dimension across the applications are the same.
