QS : Legend disappears when setting color code by expression

I want to set the colors of the measures in Qlik Sense bar chart to specific color codes.

I noticed that when selecting 'The expression is a color code' - in section Appearance => Colors and legend - the legend disappears.

Any suggestions how I can achieve

- applying specific colors to measures

- enabling legend

Hi Daniel,

Do you have some news regarding this bug. It is still present in September release and this is really annoying.

Regards,

Vincent

Still no solution.

Any plans on this one?

I got around this by creating a Master Dimension and then I set up each option as a specific colour.

This may not help you in your circumstance.

On thing to note though, is if you do this, you are unable to sort the Legend it is defaulted to Alphabetical order.

Hi Ksharpes.

thank you for the suggestion.

It does not work in my case as I have 2 dimensions on the chart and the colors are disregarded although the second one is a master dimension with set colours.

Anyway I want the users to decide on colors, so I need to source them from an excel file, and not hardcode them in the master dimension.

Thank you, Ioannis

Still an issue over five years later. I just spent a little time writing an expression, because the order that the default "dimension" filter colours things is not consistent, annoying the users. Only the expression gives me the power to control this, but then I lose the key, so nobody would know what the colours even mean (unless they hover the mouse over the stack on the bar).

The expressions aren't great either, because I then have to write one for every single stack, when I only want to customize a couple of them.

All in all, colours in Qlik are pretty rubbish, poorly designed and a real headache.

Hi all, any updates to this? I am having the same issue. I would like to hard code colour via an expression but when I do the legend disappears!
