Hi there, I'm new to Qlik Sense Enterprise and I'm working on creating a hierarchy/ organizing our Hub streams. Does anyone know if it's possible to create sub-streams or sub-groups within streams?
Hi,
As per the current Qliksense version there is no provision to create hierarchy or customized display of Streams.
This functionality is not available in the Qlik Sense.

Nilesh
Hello, Elaynegutierrez
You can use Custom Properties from the QMC, to link everything in Qlik. Let me give you a short example
Lets say we have 1 stream for Sales, with 5 applications in this Stream.
Access to applications number 1 and 2 need to have only Managers.
All other will access applications from 3 to 5.
So you will create 2 custom properties:
1.Managers - with 2 values True and False
2. Standard - With 2 values True and False.
The you attach to the stream both custom properties with value True.
Then you attach only to application 1,2 Managers with value True.
Then to apps 3-5 you attach Standard=True.
Then you have to go to each specific manager and click edit user, custom properties, Managers=True.
The same for each standard user.
Thats it basically. You also can write security rules, but its more complicated.
I find it awesome to use custom properties only and currently i got a client which I support with 9 streams, 130 applications and more than 200 users 🙂
Thanks @nilesh_gangurde ! From what I had researched that's what I found but I was just wondering if anyone out there by slim change knew otherwise. Thank you SO MUCH for confirming this! I will take this back to my team to let them know.
Thanks @tomovangel for providing a workaround! I will take the recommendation back to my team as a possible solution since Qlik Sense does not allow you to create sub-streams. 🙂
this needs to be a feature request or maybe a cookbook...I will examine the workaround idea above. We have 700-800aps now and mabye 5-10 active streams (most of those apps are not published). But we have dev, test, and prod versions of each stream, so it is kind of a mess to keep track of. And we have users who want a stream for every app in order to manage access control.
access control is by AD group. It is just not practical to manage individual users properties and to have a mixture of access all in one stream--higher level users cannot tell who has access to what and it leads to a lot of frustrating helpdesk tickets.
