Good day!
Hoping someone has come across this yet or would be able to assist from a technical stand-point...
I'm not even sure if this was possible in Qlikview, but in Sense, is it possible to get a dashboard to update from source data "real-time"; i.e. continuously. I love Qlik Sense and we need to create visual analytics that depict ever-changing data; ideally I want to use this product and not have to switch just for this occasion (if there actually is any BI tool that even does this actually).
Thank you and I look forward to any feedback you may have

Hi Jon,
If I understand correctly you are asking whether or not QlikSense or QlikView reports and dashboards can update themselves without you physically reloading the data correct? If so, you need the server as well in order to schedule jobs aka updating reports, dashboards and emailing the results of those reports and dashboards.
QlikView has a feature called Dynamic Data Update. It works well in scenarios where you need to provide a real-time update of single rows into the data model. It will not work well for scenarios that try to use the qvw files as the base for a transaction system. Qlik Sense does not have this functionality.
If you don't need to real-time updates to reside in the Qlik data model, there are alternative hybrid solutions to display data real-time within the Qlik Sense app, like extensions.
Thank you to both for the response
I'll look into the background behind Qlikview's Dynamic Data Update...But in terms of Sense, I like the sound of that. Any idea if there are existing extensions which cater for this hybrid approach? Or would I need to learn to develop this myself perhaps?
